WWII saw the beginnings of the discipline called "scientific and technical intelligence"--S&TI for short. This talk will discuss the failures and successes of some significant WWII S&TI activities, including those relating to the Pearl Harbor attack, "The Battle of the Beams" in Europe, early rocketry, atomic weapons, and the US exploitation of German aeronautical developments.
